Ever wondered what is going on? Those that know me see me as the sort of guy who is going to tread on the toes of anyone standing in the way of Prestatyn. While I'm a gentleman to the ladies. I have very little time or patience for those that try to stop others moving Prestatyn forward or think that their opinions is the only one. By doing things behind others backs ,that they think they can get away with.

While I realise no matter how much time and effort you spend trying to please everyone. There will always be those disappointed. But lets make sure they at least they had the right to voice their opinion and not simply ignored.

Now while I'm not shy about getting the job done or publicising either my voluntary/charity work and I'm more than up for a bit of fun and self 'poking' to help others out. There is more to BOURNE than what you initially see or read in the News papers. As those who ever tried to persuade the Editor your charity event needs a bit of help in publicity. Hence the scanned letters sent to the papers in either response to our local Town/County Councillors or simply to get them to at least tell the voters what they are up to or stop doing what they want in our name.

As I have nothing personal against any political party being totally separate and independent of all. I do realise working together as one machine for the betterment of Prestatyn is the only way forward and party politics can be left for the general election.

So have a read and decide for yourself if this character BOURNE is either to pushy or will be pushing your rights and points of view forward.

You might or might not have realised how much money is being spent on different projects around town. As my views that jobs are more important than art, and I speak as an artist myself, I've always been disappointed that the few people with jobs are seen to have spent vast quantity's of money on superfluous 'lumps of metal.' With a little intelligence and a bit of lateral thinking not only could Prestatyn have a modern dynamic town. But also the reputation of a place to 'must see' on a tour of North Wales before going on to Llandudno which Conway promote as their 'jewel in the crown.'

Don't get me wrong I do appreciate our present Councillors work to get this grant money, loans or Prestatyn Town Council money for the different projects they have decided upon. It would be nice to be asked if we would actually want 'X' millions spent on what they consider as a must have for the town. Whether £3,600,000,  Sorry that is £3,933,000 (add another £8000 since first writing for a kitchen) SCALA or £135,000 (yes the cost went up) art or £1,000,000 or so Central Beach revamp.

Wasn't it just in the 70's the sea defences were built. Needed I know, but the granite markers that now 'litter' the sea front are little more than unreadable 'grave stones' standing in testament to 'a waste of money and self flattery.' The same could be said of that sign post from 1996 (also one at Kimnel Bay) Moved to make way for £35,000 art (£42,000+ installed and since opening the cost of being sued. Name your own price).

Did anyone else spot the fact the old art sign post was removed, concreted over and then dug up again? Is the actual sign post going to yet again be moved to make way for the £355,000 stage three of the Central Beach project? Rather a shame then that those Councillors Sharon Frobisher, June Cahill and James Davies on the art committee and purely coincidently Conservative. Hadn't learnt by past mistakes of paying for something that is going to last, enhance the environment and peoples enjoyment of it or at least after just a decade will be worth more that you paid for it. After all good art is money and can be sold on for a profit, pointed out to Michelle Rendell Prestatyn Regeneration officer and one of the three Principal, Area and regeneration officers on the Art committee. I honestly point out just part of the 17 individuals who decided what the £135,000+ money was spent on. As said 'art is a commodity' and can be sold in the future as prices rise. By the way a mistake, waste of money in my own personal opinion was the £55,000 train station sign posts. Better to have a clean 'blooming' marvellous Prestatyn Station than a £55,000 lump of metal telling us what we already know. OH!, and a toilet on the station would be a nice thought.

I instantly offered Conservative Councillor James Michael Davies my sympathy.

Dear editor, please could I answer James M Davies letter from today's Journal (11th February 2008) concerning Lack of grit a bit steep.

Can I presume correct that this is Town and County Councillor James Michael Davies?

As a non car driver I can only say walking up Prestatyn Hill Side Road is hard enough. So anyone 'foolish' enough to try to drive it when they know full well ice and snow will only exasperate the problem is a fool to them selves. Hoping that Cllr. Davies himself wasn't one of those cars that 'slid on ice.'

Maybe some of that £30,000+ art for Hillside and the £106,000 to redevelop that area. Could be used for a bucket or two of salt grit.

Saying that Cllr Davies own ward, Bodnant Estate has two cars slide into one another, and that was on the flat! So maybe what the wife does to drop off our Club Teen young adults and drives around is a safe option.

GARY ALEXANDER BOURNE

Dear Editor, Did I read right in a recent article reply by Councillor J.M.Davies that the road bridge over Prestatyn train station tracks is to be painted some time in the future. And not replaced as I though was the case. I only show concern as it my understanding that this bridge has for many years been unsuitable for heavy goods vehicles. If you actually look at it the half inch thick steel plates are 'de laminating' with rust. More so the implication that it is unsuitable for heavy goods vehicles means that all Tesco. Marks and Spencer's etc. deliver trucks will have no alternative but to use the Nant Hall road for delivering goods. Again implying a daily stream of delivery HGV's from 6.00am to 11.00pm.

I personally can only suggest the £1,000,000 or so that is going to be used for the disabled foot bridge that is planned to replace the present perfectly sound, if not disabled compliant. Be used to connect Bastion Road and the High Street to at least make Prestatyn 'whole' again if not save at least a good chunk of that million. If the 'namby pamby' health and safety brigade wish to give excuses as to why we shouldn't be saving money and get a better town. I can also come up with my own lengthy list of reasons why another bridge is as stupid as the first. Amongst other things, being the graffiti vandals favourite spot, being used as a toilet or simply a convenient launching pad for the drunks and others bottles etc.

While Cllr Davies was writing letters to the papers. Cllr Blakeley a few weeks before was already raising the matter. I was also having a polite say to add some weight of support.

Dear Councillor Blakeley,

Thank you very much for the opportunity to voice my alarm at what I can only see as a cost cutting exercise to far.

While I’ve expressed my concerns to my local MP Chris Ruane and reiterate them again for your convenience.

First may I add my own comment on the gritting or lack of it. While I take sympathy on those who should have done the county's roads and paths. After all it was a severe overnight freeze. I was worried that as I travelled to Rhyl (via train) that day with my teenage daughter. And alighting from the train I too saw a young lady indignantly slip on the 'ice rink' that was the station platform. Yes, I did help her up.

When returning several hours later to the station as my daughter was finding it near impossible to walk on the ice around town a specifically out side the station. To the extent of being petrified of falling like the above mentioned lady. It was a shame then to see Arriva hadn't actually fixed the problem and gritted. More annoying that their staff and Police at the station hadn't been proactive to stop chatting for the 15 minutes or so it would take and simply prevent them from being sued.”

I was bemused at what was considered ‘expendable’ on the Denbighshire County Councils list.

Dear Editor, may I also make a comment to Kelly Fenna's article in the Denbighshire Visitor 11th February?

I to have observed the words 'Full Council' seem to means which ever councillor wants to turn up. On February 11th Prestatyn Town Council had a full Council meeting. Eleven councillors turned up, three apologies for not being there and one was nearly an hour late. With Conservative Councillor June Cahill's seat vacant. Which means two couldn't to be bothered to apologise for not attending.

Can I assume the 2.5% pay rise the County Councillors gave them selves was a good attendance?

23rd September 2009

Dear Editor it had to happen. While I'm still awaiting a full council meeting to be precisely that, all 18 of Prestatyns 'elected' representatives to turn up.

I had to be amused that this weeks Prestatyn Town council couldn't even mange a quorum of 6 or one third of the elected members.

For your readers and the councillors non attending. That is the minimum number of councillors needed to make a meeting legal.

Dear editor, please could I answer Matt Wright Conservative Parliamentary Candidate letter Common-sense savings please,' from today's Journal (28th January 2008)

While your readers have figured out by now that election time is upon us. With the back and forth 'titter tatter' of Conservative and Labour individuals. I see simply axing services to save money seems a little short sighted. While I too agree the County Voice could be better organised for value for money. Simply axing it just puts more individuals out of work. Something in these times needs to be looked at twice.

My own Town Council Prestatyn is Conservative dominated with only 4 independent and 1 labour. Should I blame the conservatives for Trading Places estate agents, Blue Ganges Indian Restaurant, Fresh 'n' Healthy Health food shop, Black Horse Estate Agents, The Paper Shop, C. J's Barbers, Alchemy Advisory Services Ltd. Financial Advisor, Max Spielmann Photo Developers Woolworth and now Card Warehouse. Just on our high Street. While I accept in the worst of time only the best will survive. As in the case of the Blue Ganges now Rasam's Spice opened this week and the Black horse Estate agents building being converted.

I do feel the Conservative 'banner' can be its own worst enemy. With just last week Conservative town and county councillor June Cahill resigning from Town Council (unknown explanation) Which will inevitably cost prestatyn £4000 just to fill her seat that was only taken up eight months ago. As one non-conservative councillor questioned why just Town council and not the paying County Councillor?

So Matt be a little care full of trying to make political gains when your own party are working against you.

Dear Editor,
May I do a follow up to the Matt Wright story you were kind enough to print. To pass on some good new. While many of Prestatyns shops are closed. The small business man and woman are fighting on. Black horse has opened as Surprises (can recommend their A4 envelopes) Blue Ganges is now Rasam's Spice and The Coffee Pot is now open.

The only sad new is Trades Newsagent, then a brick-a-brak shop is closed again. As well as X-tend the hairdressers. Got the feeling some days you just can't win?

But Matt Wright Conservative colleges were kind enough to ask my opinion as to what I would do. One suggestion I made was to take over some of the shops as town run registered charity organisations. Cost £5000 to set up. No need to pay council rates as a charity. With the aim of supplying FREE goods to the towns residents. Big and small companies are willing to get rid of surplus stock to be given away. Anything from washing up liquid to clothes etc. Can supply address if any Councillor wishes to take up the idea.

So may I ask the same question What is Prestatyn's Conservative Run Council doing about the businesses closing on their wards.

Dear editor,
Please may I make a correction to your article in February 11th Journal?

You mention Prestatyn Town Councillor June Cahill. Unfortunately Conservative Councillor June resigned from Prestatyn Town Council on 21st January. She is still Denbighshire County councillor. Which reminds me of the article in the Denbighshire Visitor by Kelly Fenna concerning the 2.5% pay rise they awarded themselves. Taking their wage up to £13,030. Coincidently I'm writing this on Friday the 13th. Just hope her fellow Conservative colleges don't believe in bad luck.

Hi. Just to reply to Harry Rock's letter for the old Somerfield development. Follow the link for the 'official' information.

http://planning.denbighshire.gov.uk/portal/

But may be a few questions could be asked of our Denbighshire County Councillors. Namely when is it going to actually start? Or may be the yet to be answered question of delivery times. Especially as the old 7.00am to 11.00pm (and who is monitoring this) are rumoured to be kept. With the increase of Tesco and half a dozen shops needing delivery seven days a week. Or is it a case of a few old, mentally and physical handicapped individuals backing onto the site can just go moan about the deterioration of the quality of life.

Dear Editor, please could I answer Vivien Holmes letter Journal (25th February 2009) concerning who designed the art for Central Beach or 'POLO' mint as it has become to be known. Please see web site http://www.cammdesign.co.uk/html/who.html (it does seem to still be under construction) for Cammdesign the artists.

May be your readers could also look at my own 'amateur' artist offering of what I proposed.

Dear Editor, please could I comment on New SCALA boost for Prestatyn, Bums on Seats and Opening night by both Sherry Edwards, John Gray and Paul Roberts respectively in The Journal March 11th 2009?

I believe Anne Jones Labour AM got WAG to contribute £1,801,898 for the SCALA. Where as the £1,100,000 loan by Prestatyn Town Council was given free to the SCALA Ltd. So Paul Roberts suggestion for Anne to officially open the SCALA is a good as any other.

I was hoping my own Club Teen (CT) could join in the fun and get Prestatyns Youth to dress up as their favourite film stars for the opening night. As at £4.70 a ticket I don't think they are going to have much opportunity in the future to afford to see a film. I still await a reply to my suggestion.

By the way. The Friends of the SCALA (the voluntary group) Has a book about the history of the SCALA and are asking Prestatyns residents to 'donate' a fiver to have your name in the book to raise the much needed money to have it printed. Team BOURNE were happy to contribute a fiver each including Feelix the cat. Well, it was cheaper than the adult tickets and will last longer.
